What is pipe chamfering used for?

Chamfering creates a slight bevel on the end of a PVC drainage pipe so it slides easily into fittings. It prevents damage to rubber seals, which helps avoid leaks. A chamfered edge also allows the pipe to seat fully and evenly for a more reliable connection, and makes installation quicker and easier, especially on push-fit systems.

How does the Metex pipe chamfer tool work?

Simply insert the male spigot into your power drill’s chuck and tighten, place it over the cut end of the pipe, and drill clockwise (follow the directional arrows on the tool). Apply steady pressure, never force the tool.

The tool will apply a chamfer at a UK industry standard 15 degree angle on the end of the PVC drainage pipe.

Will the Metex pipe chamfer tool work with any cordless drill?

Yes, any power drill with a standard chuck is good to use.

How long before the Metex chamfer tool blades are blunt, and is there a way of sharpening them?

We estimate these will last for 300+ uses, the blades can’t be replaced though and a new chamfer tool would need to be purchased when the blades are blunt and not ‘chamfering’ as intended.

What size pipe does the Metex pipe chamfer tool work with?

The Metex 110mm chamfer tool is designed specifically for 110mm / 4 inch PVC underground drainage and above ground PVC soil pipes.

Does the Metex pipe chamfer tool work with other pipe materials?

Chamf is designed to work mainly on 110mm PVC domestic pipe but will also work on MDPE, HDPE & HPPE. If you’re not sure please give us a call for guidance.
