Product Overview

Metex Control Joints are manufactured from flexible, UV-stabilised PVC and used to accommodate thermal movement and shrinkage in masonry construction. By absorbing small shifts in the structure, they help prevent unsightly cracks and damage while maintaining a clean, professional appearance.

Each joint is precision-made for easy installation and can be trimmed on-site to suit different wall types. When used alongside Metex clips or profiles, they ensure consistent spacing and alignment across brick or block courses.

Applications

Installation Guidance

Identify joint positions according to structural design or site requirements.
Cut the control joint to the required length with a sharp blade.
Insert vertically within the wall, ensuring proper alignment and even spacing.
Secure in place using clips if required, or integrate directly into mortar joints.
Seal exposed external joints with a suitable mastic where necessary for weatherproofing.

Metex recommends following BS 5628 and NHBC guidelines for spacing and placement, typically at 6m intervals for clay brickwork and 9m for concrete blockwork.
