Chapin 1949 Instruction Manual

The Chapin 1949 Instruction Manual provides full operating, assembly and maintenance information for the Chapin 1949 and 1979 Industrial Sprayers. Designed for professional concrete and industrial applications, these sprayers deliver consistent, high-pressure performance and long-lasting reliability.

Product Overview

Chapin Industrial Sprayers are built for heavy-duty use, featuring a durable steel tank, Tri-Lock pump system, and chemical-resistant components. The Chapin 1949 model is widely used for spraying concrete form oils, curing compounds, sealers, and other construction chemicals.

With its high-performance design, the 1949 sprayer ensures even, reliable spray coverage across large surface areas, making it an essential tool for builders, decorators, and maintenance professionals.

Key Features

  • Industrial-grade Tri-Lock pump for fast pressurising

  • Durable steel tank with corrosion-resistant coating

  • Brass and poly adjustable nozzles for varied spray patterns

  • Reinforced hose with heavy-duty fittings

  • FKM seals for superior chemical resistance

  • Lock-on/lock-off trigger for fatigue-free spraying

Assembly & Operation

  1. Attach the hose by securing the swivel nut clockwise to the tank outlet.

  2. Install the nozzle onto the extension wand or shut-off handle.

  3. Filling: Unscrew the pump handle and fill with spray solution, following the chemical manufacturer’s instructions. Do not overfill.

  4. Pressurising: Pump the handle until firm resistance is felt, then lock the handle into position.

  5. Spraying: Begin spraying evenly. Re-pump periodically to maintain pressure.

  6. Releasing Pressure: Slowly turn the handle counterclockwise until air escapes completely before opening the tank.

Maintenance & Storage

  • Rinse the tank thoroughly after use, following chemical safety instructions.

  • Flush the hose, wand, and nozzle with clean water or a suitable solvent.

  • Store the sprayer upside down with the pump removed in a dry environment.

  • Periodically lubricate the pump shaft with 10–12 drops of light oil for smooth operation.

  • Inspect hoses, seals, and metal parts regularly for corrosion or wear. Replace only with genuine Chapin parts.

Safety Precautions

Always wear protective clothing, gloves, and eye protection when using the sprayer. Never use with flammable or corrosive chemicals, and do not leave the unit pressurised in direct sunlight. Ensure the tank is fully depressurised before opening.
