Unikey in Action: Supporting Jet Pro Drainage on Everyday Jobs

When drainage engineer Jadey Byrne launched her company, Jet Pro Drainage, in early 2025, she brought with her years of experience working for some of the UK’s biggest drainage companies. Now running her own business, Jadey tackles anything from five to eighteen jobs a day. And as almost all of them involve accessing manhole covers to check drains are running properly, she needs the right manhole key close at hand, every time.

In the past, Jadey had to carry several different drainage tools and hope she had the right key for each site, as she explained:

“I found it difficult making sure I had the correct keys for different manhole covers. This was time consuming and sometimes a hindrance as not all keys were available on our vans. There could be sites with 3-4 different manhole covers, all of different sizes, weight and materials. And without the correct key it made it nearly impossible to open.”

How Unikey fits into her day

The Unikey universal manhole cover lifting key kit has been designed to solve exactly this problem. Supplied in a handy carry case, it includes two powder-coated heavy duty handles and a full set of interchangeable key tips, including T tips, hook tips, screw tips and a stopcock key. With a 250kg Safe Working Load certified by Lloyds British Testing, it is built for professional use.

After using the Unikey kit for several months, Jadey shared how it has made her day-to-day work easier:

“I found the Unikey to be a huge time saver. The quick release system means I can swap tips instantly and always have the right manhole cover lifting key at hand. The ease of being able to use more than one key head at the same time is also a bonus when having to switch up a method to raise a stubborn manhole cover.”

Saving time on every job

Without the need to carry a van full of different keys, Jadey has saved valuable time on jobs. The bright green powder coated finish has also been a practical benefit.

“The brightness of the green is a great idea as they are identified easily and that’s ideal! The interchangeable heads are great and have saved me a lot of effort.”

When asked if she would recommend the kit to other professionals, Jadey was clear:

“I would recommend Unikey for the immense ease it provides with interchangeable heads. This is a real need in the industry because time is everything.”

Conclusion

For busy drainage professionals like Jadey, the Unikey manhole cover key kit has become a trusted part of her everyday tools.
